The BOA system has dominated the conversation about ski boots for a couple seasons now. As we’ve discussed in our Blister Summit panel sessions, various GEAR:30 podcast episodes, and boot reviews, these polarizing dial-and-cable systems aren’t going away any time soon. We’ve generally been fans of the system on the numerous BOA boots we’ve tested, but few things have ignited such passionate responses from gear heads around the world.
So far, they’d only been utilized for the lower shells of ski boots, promising more uniform tightening and easier fine-tuning than traditional buckles.
That changes today, with Salomon officially unveiling their new S/Pro Supra Dual BOA collection of boots.
Salomon gets right to the point with the name of these boots — they feature two BOA dials. One adjusts the lower shell, just like the current S/Pro Supra BOA, but the Dual version ditches the two upper buckles for another BOA dial and cable system.
The end goal seems pretty similar with the new upper-cuff BOA setup. Salomon says it “ensures exceptional wrapping around the lower leg for more precision and consistent contact between shin and boot, ultimately increasing power transmission to the ski.”
The S/Pro Supra Dual BOA boot all feature polyurethane shells and cuffs that are heat-moldable via Salomon’s “Custom Shell HD” process, as are their “Exowrap” liners.
Same as the single-BOA S/Pro Supra, the Dual BOA boots have a stated last width of 100-106 mm, with the range being attributed to the moldability of their shells. I.e., all of the S/Pro Supra models serve as Salomon’s “medium-volume” alpine boots, offering a roomier fit than their S/Pro Alpha and S/Pro Race collections.
For 25/26, Salomon will offer the S/Pro Supra Dual BOA, S/Pro Supra BOA, and standard-buckled S/Pro Supra in various flex ratings, though the Dual BOA series will be the only one with the flagship flex ratings of 130 for the men’s boot and 115 for the women’s.
The 25/26 S/Pro Supra Dual BOA collection will include 130- and 120-flex versions in men’s sizing (the 120 comes in two color options); on the women’s side, there will be a 115 and 105.
Salomon is debuting the collection with an early, limited release of the S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 120 and 105 W at select retailers and on Salomon’s website. The 130 and 115 W will reportedly be available later this year.
We’ll be testing these boots in the near future, and we’ll post Flash Reviews as soon as we get them on snow. And, while we can’t give away any of the specifics right now, we’ll also be discussing other 25/26 dual-BOA boots, so keep an eye on our site as the announcements continue to roll out.
In the meantime, below we’ve pasted the full press release from Salomon:
Salomon Launches S/PRO SUPRA DUAL BOA® Ski Boots
A Revolutionary Leap in Precision, Comfort, and Performance
Ogden, UT (January, 15, 2025) – Salomon, the global leader in alpine innovation, announces the launch of the 2025/26 S/PRO SUPRA DUAL BOA® Ski Boots. This 100mm last boot sets a new benchmark in ski boot design with cutting-edge technology that redefines fit, support, and performance.
“Since day one, Salomon has been driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to pushing boundaries,” said Lauren Samuels, Salomon’s North American Alpine Category Manager. “The dual BOA® system used in this boot is a statement to our relentless pursuit of excellence, designing products that empower skiers with unparalleled control and comfort.”
For the first time, Salomon introduces a dual BOA® system that allows skiers to fine-tune the fit of the upper cuff and lower shell independently. The upper cuff’s BOA® dial ensures exceptional wrapping around the lower leg for more precision and consistent contact between shin and boot, ultimately increasing power transmission to the ski. The lower shell dial offers fine-tuned comfort, creating a seamless integration that delivers unmatched sensitivity and control. When paired together this micro-adjustable technology delivers unmatched precision, ensuring skiers can achieve the perfect fit for any condition.
The innovative ExoWrap design works in harmony with the BOA® fit systems, providing a targeted wrap around the foot and lower leg that enhances foothold and performance. Complemented by Salomon’s Custom Shell HD technology, which allows for quick heat molding of the shell and liner to deliver a personalized fit. This dynamic construction amplifies the skier’s movements, maximizing responsiveness and comfort throughout the day.
The boot will be available in 4 flex patterns; Salomon debuts the S/Pro Supra Dual BOA® 120 and 105 W on early season sale starting today, January 15, 2025 at specialty retailers and Salomon.com. The S/Pro Supra Dual BOA® 130 and 115 W will be available later this year at Salomon retailers and online at Salomon.com.
