Where are You Covered?

BLISTER+ Outdoor Injury Insurance, BLISTER

Anywhere in the world.

How It Works

Our BLISTER+ injury insurance is a custom policy we created with our partner, Spot Insurance, and it is underwritten by Mutual of Omaha.

In addition to all the other benefits of the membership, BLISTER+ members get up to $25,000 of injury insurance per injury — with $0 deductible — for all the activities listed above, anywhere in the world. And citizens of all countries are eligible.

So, say you’re a BLISTER+ member and you hurt yourself biking to work. You’ll be covered for up to $25,000 for that injury, with $0 deductible. And if you later hurt yourself skiing or fishing or rock climbing or snowboarding or snowmobiling or running or kayaking, etc, you’d be covered for up to $25,000 for that injury, too, again with $0 deductible.

You just submit a claim through Spot’s insurance portal and you’ll have both the Spot team and our Blister team working with you to make sure that you’re taken care of.

No, BLISTER+ is not health insurance.

The BLISTER+ plan provides coverage for reimbursement of medical bills incurred for injuries stemming from accidents.

If you’re an active BLISTER+ member and you get injured while doing one of the covered activities, you’d go through any medical procedures and visits as usual, using your own health insurance (if applicable), and then you file a claim through our insurance partner, Spot, to get reimbursed for covered care related to that injury. See the “What if I have to submit a claim” tab for more details.

As much as we would like to help you with your stomach flu (drink plenty of fluids!), general illness and sickness are not included in your policy coverage.

General illness, pre-existing conditions, overuse injuries (wear and tear), and chronic sickness are not included in your policy coverage. BLISTER+ only covers accidental injuries that happen while you’re participating in the covered activities.

Yes, air and ground transportation are covered, up to $25,000.

Coverage is void if the insured is doing anything illegal – e.g., trespassing.

Here is the Policy Transport language:

Ambulance Service (Air) means the service provided:
• by means of a fixed or roto-winged aircraft equipped with life support and medical apparatus; and
• for the primary purpose of transporting an Insured to or from the Hospital where treatment is given.

Ambulance Service (Surface) means the service provided:
• by a commercial or municipal ground ambulance service; and
• for transporting an Insured to or from the Hospital where treatment is given.

Once you’ve purchased your BLISTER+ membership, you will receive an email from Spot (our injury insurance partner) with instructions on how to log into your Spot Insurance account, which is what you will use if / when you need to file a claim.

Within 1-2 business days of purchasing BLISTER+, our injury insurance partner, Spot, will send an additional email to you that contains instructions on how to log into your Spot Insurance account, which is what BLISTER+ members will use if / when they need to file a claim. When logging into your Spot account, select “Blister” as the partner you purchased coverage from.

If you’re an active BLISTER+ member and need to file an injury insurance claim, doing so is easy:

(1) Within 30 days of the date of the injury, log in to your Spot account to report your accident at getspot.com/login-selection.

(2) Use the “File a Claim” button on your Spot account page to begin the process and fill out basic relevant details regarding your injury and any potential related medical care.

(3) A member of Spot’s support team will then work one-on-one with you to run you through the claim process. They’ll inform you about any documents you need to upload (e.g., bill from a doctor’s office, your health insurance’s Explanation of Benefits, etc.), and they’ll help answer any questions you might have.

(4) After you’ve submitted any required documents and information, Spot will process your claim and you’ll be mailed a check for any relevant reimbursement.

You can begin the above process even if you haven’t yet received treatment or bills, but you must begin the process within 30 days of when the injury occurred. Then, once you submit any required documents (e.g., bills or Explanation of Benefits), you can complete the claim and get reimbursed for any covered medical care.
