What RMU says about the Zephyr 88:
“Introducing the Zephyr 88, one of RMU's latest innovations inspired by our classic CRM line and the Apostle 96 Ti. Designed for skiers of all levels, the Zephyr 88 promises an exceptional on-mountain experience. With a wood core reinforced by shaped titanal sheets, this ski delivers a smooth, powerful ride, even at the fastest speeds.
The Story Behind the Name: Zephyr The Zephyr 88 takes its name from the iconic California Zephyr train, a route that connects RMU’s Breckenridge location in Colorado with our Truckee location in California. The train’s journey through stunning landscapes—from the Rockies to the Sierra Nevada's—mirrors the connection the Zephyr 88 aims to create between skiers and the exhilaration of the mountains.
Enhanced Performance for Every Skier: The Zephyr 88 features a titanal configuration that enhances stiffness and torsional rigidity, providing powerful performance in varied conditions. From carving groomers to tackling challenging terrain, the Zephyr 88 is engineered to deliver top-notch control and precision.
Superior Control—No Compromises: With enhanced dampness, the Zephyr 88 ensures a solid edge hold through any condition. Whether you're cruising through fresh morning snow or navigating firmer afternoon runs, this ski offers consistent, reliable performance.
Every RMU ski is handcrafted in our high-quality factory in Åre, Sweden, using 100% renewable energy. This commitment to quality and sustainability is backed by a full lifetime warranty.”— RMU
Flex Pattern
Here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the Zephyr 88:
Tips: 6.5-7.5
Shovels: 8-8.5
In Front of Toe Piece: 8.5-10
Underfoot: 10
Behind the Heel Piece: 10-9
Tails: 9-9.5
This ski is very stiff overall, especially around the middle and through the tail, though its tips are a bit softer than some other carving skis, such as the Volkl Peregrine, K2 Disruption, and Head Supershape models.
