WHAT TYPE(S) OF SKIER DO YOU IMAGINE WILL GET ALONG BEST WITH THIS SKI?

Freestyle-oriented skiers (or anyone who skis with a centered stance) looking for a ski to charge in softer snow and pop off every side hit. If you ski directionally with a forward stance, these skis are not for you.

PLEASE ELABORATE ON ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO SAY ABOUT THIS SKI. FEEL FREE TO GO INTO DETAIL!

Not really sure how to organize this, so I’m going to break it down into different use cases.

Groomers:
These skis are surprisingly good on groomers for being 108 wide and quite rockered. Edge hold on firm groomers is not the best (as expected), but it’s nothing super detrimental. On softer groomers when grip isn’t an issue, these skis are actually quite fun to carve. They have a smooth edge-to edge transition and provide a decent amount of energy coming out of turns. You definitely need to get them up to speed, but once you do they are fun to carve. I haven’t really skied them in truly icy conditions, but I’m sure it would not be fun.

Off piste:
These skis really shine in basically all off-piste scenarios due to their combination of stability and looseness. Despite being pretty heavy, their surfiness makes them really maneuverable in trees, moguls and steeps. Also, they are very stable and damp compared to other all-mountain freestyle skis allowing you to go fast and blast through soft chop.

Powder:
They perform about how you would expect a 108 wide ski to do in powder. In deep powder I was left wanting something wider and mounted further back, but In most resort powder conditions they are great. Once the powder gets skied out into soft chop, they really come alive and allow you to charge/blast through the snow.

Park:
Yes they are a twin tip, but that does not make them an ideal park ski. They are fine for taking an occasional lap through the park, but are much too wide and heavy to be a dedicated park ski. They ski switch well, but their looseness is definitely noticeable when riding switch.

Overall:
I bought these as my one ski to take out west where I primarily ride off-piste advanced/expert terrain with a ‘chargy’ and playful style. Given this, they are perfect for what I wanted them to do. These skis retain the playfulness that all-mountain freestyle skis are known for, but add in a level of stability that is rare for the category. For this style of skiing, these skis are fantastic in the majority of ‘big mountain’ conditions and are surprisingly competent (and even fun) on firmer snow and groomers. If you come from a freestyle background and want to go fast and big off-piste, I can’t recommend these enough.

Other random thoughts:
– great for spring skiing
– probably wouldn’t hurt to size up, but I haven’t had any problems with the 186 at my height/weight/ability.

*Note: ON3P does not make this exact ski anymore, but the current model year has only undergone minor changes and I would assume my comments would hold true for the current ski*
