Physically and technically strong directional skiers who want a strong, stable, and precise ski for skiing hard in firmer conditions.

ARE THERE SIMILAR PRODUCTS YOU’VE SKIED THAT YOU CLEARLY PREFER? IF SO, WHY?

This isn’t really my type of ski (for my personal preferences), but it feels like it has its place. I prefer the Volkl Mantra 102 in bumps and tight terrain cause it’s easier to release and pivot, and a bit more forgiving when I get backseat.

While the previous Commanders felt like new, modern takes on what directional, metal-laminate skis can be, this new Commander 102 feels more traditional overall. It rewards solid technique with impressive composure and precision, but it’s not very forgiving nor particularly playful.
