The BootDoctors at Taos Ski Valley is basically Blister’s home shop. A number of us at Blister have been getting our boots fit here long before Blister existed. Blister’s editor-in-chief has been going there for 13 seasons, and literally every single boot that Blister’s ski editor Will Brown ever purchased has come from the Taos BootDoctors and was fit by them.
We go there to hang out, talk shop, compare notes, make fun of each other, get our boots fit and learn a ton about boots.
The BootDoctors is an institution in the ski industry, and this particular store is a big reason why we care so much about supporting and highlighting outstanding shops. Having a good relationship with a great bootfitter will very directly affect how much fun you are going to have skiing, and can quite literally determine whether you enjoy or lament every minute on the hill.
History & Experience
The BootDoctors was founded in 1986, and co-owner Bob Remiger has been fitting boots there for 27 years. Blister contributing editor Charlie Bradley has been there for over 20 years, as have Rick Chancellor and Donnie ‘I-have-all-ten-of-my-fingers’ Brokmeyer. Even the “newbies” at the BootDoctors—Margie Smith (15 years), David Shaha (8 years), Trenton Knight, and Hans von Heune—have all been fitting boots for at least five years. That kind of collective experience is pretty unheard of in the bootfitting world, and if you don’t think that matters, well, good luck with your next pair of boots.
The BootDoctors’ Guarantee
When you purchase your boots at the BootDoctors, all tweaking and further bootfitting is free for a year from the date of purchase, and they will work with you until you are satisfied, period.

The BootDoctors carries a wide range of skis, and snowboards by GNU and Lib Tech. And a great service they provide is the ability to demo every single ski and snowboard they sell in every length they carry.
Tuning / Mounting
In addition to providing the best bootfitting in the state of New Mexico, the BootDoctors has a full tune shop, uses a Montana machine, and can stone grind skis and snowboards. They also mount dynafit tech bindings.
