Established in 1963, The Skier’s Sportshop is one of the oldest ski shops in Edmonton, Alberta. Started by a local hockey star, George McAvoy, it’s still owned and operated by his son and daughter. With that much history in Edmonton, it makes sense that The Skier’s Sportshop sponsors a variety of local events, ski clubs, and various charities.

Brands
The Skier’s Sportshop carries some of our reviewers’ personal favorite brands, including skis from Armada, Atomic, Black Crows, Faction, Head, Icelantic, K2, Line, Moment, and Nordica — and not just one or two models from each brand. Nope, they carry a large selection of the lineup from each brand.
They also carry outerwear and apparel from Strafe, Patagonia, Kari Traa, Arc’teryx, L1, and Spyder, to name a few. Plus, they offer kids outerwear from Orage, Obermayer, Patagonia, Spyder, and The North Face.
For junior and adult ski boots you’ll find K2, Nordica, Full Tilt, Atomic, and Head with snowboard boots and bindings from K2.
Services
The Skier’s Sportshop offers waxing, tuning, mounting, binding adjustments, and bootfitting services. As a family owned and operated store, it’s no surprise that The Skier’s Sportshop staff are also happy to fit the entire family. They understand the challenges of fitting kids and how quickly they blow through sizes. With that in mind, they offer a helpful trade-in program.
Ski Demos
The Skier’s Sportshop does not offer rental equipment but they do have demo skis available on occasion throughout the season. We recommend calling the shop to learn more about current options.
Online Presence
Almost all of the products available in the store are also available online, and that includes some great sale items. The Skier’s Sportshop keeps their website up-to-date with their current inventory, and they ship within North America.
