  1. I currently have the Amperages as my on hill ski. I’m 6’4 200lbs, and I had thought the 195 might be enough of a ski for me. Unfortunately, the ski is not for a person of larger stature. In pow conditions the ski is playful and fun, but on the crud and hardpack it is nearly useless for me. I could move my bindings forward to +3 but I am worried about ski right through the tips. There is nothing to the front of the skis at all. This ski is definitely geared toward the strong intermediate skier rather than a expert skier. If I was 30lbs lighter I would probably enjoy the ski, but I would also look pretty ridiculous.

  2. They may be for me then. 6’1″ 215 lbs intermediate skier at Alta/Snowbird. In my 3rd year skiing but progressing quickly and looking for a single ski quiver that can help me progress to the next level of learning to ski powder, crud, bumps, etc. Currently ski blue groomers comfortably (but not at mach speeds) am ready to take the next step and learn to ski the rest of the mountain. Trying to decide between the Amperage and Zealot with reservations as to which length would also be appropriate for me. Jason, I would really appreciate your input and advice.

    Thanks,
    Brian

  3. Currently on 171 Atomic Nomad Smokes, 77 under foot. First and only ski I have skied. Also considering 180 Blizzard Bonafides as the next step.

    Thanks,
    Brian

  4. Cool, thanks for your advice. There are some great deals to be had right now so I’m sure I can get them at a good price. Love the reviews, thanks for your help.

  5. I have remounted the skis at 2.5 and it has changed the ski significantly. It is a lot more fun, responsive and I am actually enjoying the ski to a point. The ski still lacks high speed stability, and suffers in powder if you want to skiing over your feet. The bottom line is there is not enough of a tip once the bindings are moved forward to create float in powder and to bust through the crud. Fun ski when I am taking it easy and want a playful poppy ride. I still stick to this ski being for the intermediate heavy skier or for a light weight advanced skier.

    • Completely agree with you JPee. I am 5’7 140 and this ski is absolutely great in powder especially when it is steep. When the snow is crud, I do not use this ski under any circumstances. It simply isn’t stiff enough and bends too much making me feel every bump.
