What Moment says about the Commander 98
“For us, wide-open groomers are like a full moon, summoning the inner speed demon. So we built a ski you can drive—and we mean REALLY bend a shovel on—but still toss off into the chop and humble bystanders with your crud-busting prowess.
A European beech core, two sheets of titanal, full-width metal over full-height, race-style sidewall underfoot provide unparalleled connection to the snow, maximum driving power and more quickness edge to edge than we have ever deemed reasonable. Throw a flatter tail, rearward mount and dual radius sidecut into the mix and it’s a whole new animal.
The 2022 Moment Commander 98 will charge anything—crud, corn, bumps, groomers, so you can lay trenches like a ditch witch but still crush the rest of the mountain without fearing for life and ligaments.
That doesn’t mean you’ll get your ass spanked if you so much as flinch—It’ll slip, slash and pivot to your heart’s content, so long as you aren’t afraid to keep your foot on the gas it’ll never hold you back.”
Flex Pattern
Here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the Commander 98:
Tips: 7.5
Shovels: 8-9
In Front of Toe Piece: 9-9.5
Underfoot: 9.5
Behind the Heel Piece: 9.5
Tails: 9-7
Overall the flex pattern of the Commander 98 feels very similar to the Commander 108, though it’s a touch stiffer around the bindings and slightly softer at its ends.

I am looking forward to reading a review on 2023/24 Commander 102. Removing 98mm from the Commander line quite surprised me. I was thinking replacing my 2016 Blizzard Bonafide (also 98mm) with Commander 98 but not sure if I can go all way up to 102 for the narrow skis in my ski-quiver. Thank you!
Also waiting for the Commander 102 review!
Just confirmed that we will be able to start testing the Commander 92 and Commander 102 in the next few weeks. Will post Flash Reviews ASAP.
Can’t wait to hear about the 92! not much info out there that I have seen. Thank!
We just got the 92 and 102! Will be publishing First Looks and Flash Reviews ASAP.
