This week, DPS introduced a new product that represents quite a departure for the company: the DPS Carbon Pisteworks 79. And today, you’re going to hear one of the deepest dives we’ve ever done on GEAR:30 about the design and development of a new ski; how Blister Labs was involved; and the lengthy process of developing a ‘metal ski without the metal.’

The Carbon Pisteworks 79 is now available for pre-order, and Blister Summit attendees will be able to demo the new Pisteworks 79 at Blister Summit 2025.

  1. Wait, let me get this straight: They measured the static and dynamic vibrational quantities of metal skis and correlated them to the qualitative experience of skiers, then used that data as the primary component of the engineering target for the new design but integrated the rebounding performance of carbon into those the suspension performance traits? If so, this is next level. A metal ski that can still pop?
