The winner of our Gear Giveaway this week will win what is, in my opinion, one of the generally “most fun” skis on the market, the Line Blade!
You should read our full review and/or watch Line’s video below to see what the Blade and women’s Blade W are all about, cause they’re kinda hard to describe. On one hand, these skis have a really tight sidecut radius that makes it ludicrously easy — and ludicrously fun — to lay down tight, hard carves. But they’ve also got a bit of tip and tail rocker and a tail that’s much narrower than the tip, so unlike most tight-radius skis, the Blade is really easy to feather and slide around and not scary in variable conditions. It’s also a pretty damp ski, yet it’s still quite poppy when you bend it — which many people can do, since it’s also got a fairly accessible flex pattern.
I think the most notable praise I can give the Blade is that, on the days when I got the choice to ski whichever ski I wanted last season, the Blade was what I picked almost every time. That’s why it got a “Best Of” award in our 21/22 Winter Buyer’s Guide, and I think most people would have to try hard to have a bad time on the Blade.
