The Ledge
The Ledge Snowboard Shop
The Village at Palisades Tahoe
1850 Village South Rd
Olympic Valley, CA 96146
The Ledge is not your typical snowboard shop, and that’s intentional. The name is a nod to hip-hop history—“Know the Ledge,” a song from the film Juice—and that sense of knowledge, progression, and respect runs through everything they do. The space has an urban, industrial feel: concrete floors, raw pipe fixtures, black subway tile behind the board wall, and a terrain feature that divides the men’s and women’s sides of the shop. Even the logos pull inspiration from classic hip-hop groups. The soundtrack? A steady mix of hip-hop and instrumental beats that fits the space without overpowering it.
Philosophy: Progressive, Not Pretentious
The Ledge is a progressive snowboard shop, and the goal from day one was to build a shop that didn’t feel stuck in 1990—and just as importantly, one where no one feels talked down to.
Every employee learns: you don’t make yourself look better by making someone else look worse. That philosophy shows up in how the staff interacts with customers—whether they’re deeply tech-savvy riders (and yes, Palisades’ San Francisco–heavy crowd often is) or someone who just knows that their setup isn’t quite working.
The emphasis is always on education, respect, and problem-solving—never judgment.
Brands
The shop’s product decisions are rooted in long-term performance, real rider feedback, and a clear understanding of how modern snowboard gear has evolved—and where it’s still going.

Services
The Ledge is not a rental shop, and they don’t run a full machine tune operation in-house, but they do work closely with the Tune and Demo Center at Palisades Tahoe. The Ledge offers the following services:
- Iron wax while you wait, and they can take a look at your board while waxing to see if you could benefit from a tune
- Boot fitting & heat molding
- BOA repairs
- Snowboard mounting & full setup (boots, bindings, stance, dialed start to finish)
While The Ledge doesn’t do demos, they are closely connected with the Palisades rental facility in the village, and demo fees can be applied toward a purchase during the regular season
Bottom Line
The Ledge stands out not just for what they sell, but also for how they operate. It’s a shop built on knowledge, culture, and respect—for the history of snowboarding, for the gear itself, and for every rider who walks through the door.
If you’re riding Palisades Tahoe and want a shop that understands snowboarding past, present, and future—and will help you get the most out of your setup—stop by The Ledge and tell them we sent you!
