When a Non-Traditional Ski Company Makes “Traditional” Skis | Moment Commanders

Moment has been making skis in Reno for over a decade now, and since the very beginning, they’ve done things their own way. So, when they revealed their new Commander series, those skis’ directional, metal-laminate, and narrow (for Moment) designs came as a bit of a surprise.

At Blister Summit 2024, we got the whole story from Moment Skis CEO, Luke Jacobson. We discuss how their directional skis have evolved over the years; how the Commander 92 and Commander 102 compare to Moment’s Countach, Wildcat, and Deathwish skis; the materials and design traits that make the Commander skis stand out, and more.

Here are some of our thoughts so far on Moment’s directional, metal-laminate, and narrowest ski, the Commander 92 — including how it compares to the Commander 102 and several other ~90mm-wide all-mountain skis.

  1. Am I remembering correctly from the summit that there is a narrower Countach coming out next year? or did I make that up?

  2. I’m thinking Deathwish 104, Commander 102, Countach 110 is going to be my quiver of DD’s. Headed down to pick up the DW in the AM. Already skiing and LOVING the C102.

    Yeah Moment!!!
