You spent hours pouring over Blister reviews, and you’ve found the perfect skis, bike, or snowboard. You’re ready to go. But once you’re outside and going … what are you doing to keep going? What are you eating and drinking? Are you eating and drinking? Should you be? What, when, and how much? What does the latest science have to say about all of this?

To walk us through these questions and more, we’re talking with the founder of Skratch Labs, Dr. Allen Lim. Allen is sharp, hilarious, and clearly driven to help people perform at their peak.

Those of you who are interested in entrepreneurship are going to love this conversation. And those of you who want to hear about sports nutrition from someone who is very much at the forefront of the subject, you’re going to love this conversation, too.

Also, for Blister Summit attendees, we are going to have a bunch of Skratch Labs products at the Summit so you’ll have a chance to check them out and see what you think. (The Blister Summit is happening soon — February 23rd – 27th — here in Mt. Crested Butte, Colorado.)

  1. Thanks for the great conversation! I’ve noticed that eating and hydration is always an afterthought on resort days for many, especially if the snow is good.

I’m wondering on the actual range of low and high blood sugars you’ve seen in athletes. I assume that it’s much more drastic during a high level, heavy mileage ride or ultra- or ski tour than you would see in your average skier on a day tour. But I’ve always assumed that for the average person (without a form of diabetes) the body is pretty good at maintaining the amount of sugar in the blood.

I’m a Type 1 diabetic who is fairly active in the outdoors, so my blood sugars are always on my mind (and always changing) whether a day lift served or a week long backpacking trip.
