Today, we are talking about health, fitness, and performance with Dr. Steve Burkert, owner of Snow Beast Performance, located just outside of Burlington, Vermont. Steve and I discuss some best practices for training for outdoor sports, the most common summer injuries he and his team see, what we can do to prevent those injuries, and how best to treat them once they happen. We then discuss some eye-opening trends in the physical therapy world that all of us need to understand. Finally, you’re going to hear a little teaser about our new BLISTER+ Recommended Providers program.
Note: We Want to Hear From You! We’d love for you to share with us the stories or topics you’d like us to cover next month on Reviewing the News; ask your most pressing mountain town advice questions; or offer your hot takes for us to rate. You can email those to us at info@blisterreview.com

Hey, what’s the episode number for the similar episode about winter sports you mentioned around the 4:16 mark?
Hi, it’s episode #329: Dr. Gloria Beim on the Paris Olympics; Pre-Season Training Advice; the Most Common Ski & Snowboard Injuries; & More

This is a good show, and several of the topics I directly identify with. The best recovery plan from an injury is not having the injury in the first place. As you and many of your guest over time have discussed being fit is the best way to enjoy an active lifestyle. The 2nd don’t go too big too soon. 3rd Hydration and Nutrition are key to having longevity. I wonder how many Hamstring pulls I had when I was in college were due to a diet of Pizza and Beer.
Loved the part on us aging athletes; we still want to go play at a high level, whatever that high level is.
Can’t wait to hear more discussions or programs on training for sport especially as a “Seasoned” athlete.
