Today, I’m laying out more fully my thoughts about Peak Skis. Luke Koppa joins me to offer his perspective, too, and we’ll go into why I made my initial comments here on GEAR:30 back on May 23, what I’ve been up to and learning since then, and what we think needs to happen going forward.

I can’t believe any athletes (or anyone else) in the Tahoe area trusted Andy Wirth after his conduct when he was running KSL / Squaw.
Bode seemly was given full control and showed what he could do when in control. Lots of devastation left in his wake. Creative thinker but not firmly grounded on this planet. Agree with Jonathan that the “Buyer Beware” label has been earned by Bode. I am sure he would disagree.
Thanks, Jonathan and Luke.
I agree with this Peak implosion. Well presented. As a long time participant in this industry, I have been burned a number of times over the 30 plus years that I have been involved. Whether it was poor management or just ran out of money, it still burns when this happens and people can either own up to their problem or just blow you off, just like Peak did. Crosson was not much better with taking advantage of all those that tried to help him succeed, including me. They just took advantage of us.
Well presented. I commend you for strongly putting out the texts and not sugarcoating it or your opinion. A lot of the reports were way too soft on Peak skis and what happened.
Now here is where I think you get it wrong. It’s way more than simply wanting Dav and Michelle to get paid. At the end of the day, I believe Andy and Bode are conmen. While a sophisticated investor could read the prospectus of the crowdfunding and could tell it was a guaranteed loser, a lot of people are not financially sophisticated enough to read through it and understand the financial jargon and financial statements. I’m tired of our buyer beware society where the attitude is if you don’t read the very fine print sucks for you. Too bad so sad. No! People were trusting their ski idol Bode wasn’t going to rip them off. By the same logic you could say Dav and Michelle should have known better as any kind of due diligence would tell you the Andy and Bode show has repeatedly ripped off investors in other ventures. The theme is it always ends in tears for everyone except Andy and Bode.
Glad you called them out!! Net net I hope these conmen are finished from repeating any more of their shenanigans. We should be holding people to a standard of decency and honesty all around, not just the ski world.
Thanks again for the thoughts and takeaways!!!
Came here to say exactly this.
Where is the line between bad business and criminal intent! These two seem like the Bernie Madoff of skiing! Not good!
