  1. Yo, awesome sock discussion. So important. Ultralight was my go to for years in SmartWool but they changed their construction like from woven to bonded so switched to Darn Tough Ultra Lite’s < (spelling yikes). Was able to size down to medium from large with Darn Tough and they are perfect for my 9.5 foot in a 26.5 shell. Le Bent targeted cushion sock turned out to be an amazing find when your liner is a bit sacked out or when slogging around in pow and crud my boot can loosen up a bit. The Le’bent Targeted cushion is like re powering up your old/new boots without the bulk or volume which I deplore. I wear the Darn Tough’s year round with Blundstone slip on street boots unless in shorts and flips cuz that would be weird.

  2. I grew up skiing Palisades but don’t get there very often these days because I split time between Sugar Bowl (kids’ programs) and Mammoth (free in-law lodging/childcare). Despite having spent hundreds of days on that mountain I still get that goosebump-y feeling of recognizing the scenes of all of the epic ski movie shots that Luke described.

Great discussion of mid-layers. I have the Norrona Alpha 90 and 120 (the ones that are mostly just the “raw” Alpha insulation) and love them, but those only work under wind-blocking layers of some sort. I’m eager to give that 100 a go as something that can be worn on its own.

I have and still use the MTN 95 in 184 cm, and have tried the 196. I agree that the 96 has a more forgiving tail and is easier to release, though I think my 95s may have an unusual amount of camber though (significantly more than Blister’s measurement FWIW) so there may be some variability at play.

  3. Great show gang.

Socks, are we talking socks! Funny how something that is an after thought or an “I am not paying $25 for Socks, can be so important. Biking, Running same discussion.

Good info on mid layers. But can you point me in the direction of items that dont stink after 1 day on the mtn.

Super happy Blister officially made it to Paliades Tahoe!
