  1. I can not believe that you have done this!!! My girlfriend made me watch it a few weeks ago. The show is utter crap but I like it, I don’t know why.
We now live down below Megève (meh-jevv, not me-give, no hard G) and have been up there a few times recently to enjoy their gentle grassy slopes for some early season turns.

The most outrageous part of the episode to us is the stock train footage, most likely being from the Swiss mountains. Definitely not French. Then, in the chalet, the Swiss flag cushions, not Haute Savoie cross flag cushions, which are similar I must admit. Either somebody from the crew went out and bought those cushions, somewhere not in the local area of Megève. Or, the chalet they filmed in, was actually in Switzerland. Classic TV hiccups.

Regarding goggles: You should see weekends in European ski resorts. Everything! Jeans, yes. The other day, in Megeve the light was a little bit flat and grey and I saw someone with no eye wear at all and his friend with dark sunglasses. Ugly rental helmets, badly fitted, sometimes even on backwards, with designer city sunglasses definitely exists.

Megeve has lovely cruisey pistes, it melts early these days unfortunately due to its low/mid altitude. The lifts are nothing special compared to the big mega resorts. The restaurants and cafes are ridiculously expensive! Why people come I dont really know. Oh yeah, to pose!

It’s always been the holiday home of wealthy Parisians and Genevoise. Where as your Courchevel’s and Val d’Isere’s are full of international wealth. However due to Emily, more international people are definitely coming. A transfer driver friend confirmed this from his clientele.

Side note- I spotted the other day that the Evasion Mont Blanc (ski area of Megeve/St Gervais/St Nic/Combloix/La Giettaz) is part of the Ikon pass now.

    • Absolutely fantastic report, ha. Thank you! If I ever make it there, I’ll bring my best designer sunglasses and ski at least 1 run with my helmet on backward…
