The winner of our Gear Giveaway this week will get a pair of custom skis from Folsom!
We’ve talked a lot about various Folsom skis on our site, on our GEAR:30 podcast (listen to our latest conversation above), and in our Blister Summit videos. Long story short: Folsom makes custom skis in Colorado, and they now have more shapes and constructions to choose from than ever before. Several of our reviewers have become big fans of all sorts of their skis (with multiple Folsom skis earning our “Best Of” award), from the exceptionally versatile Spar 88, to the playful Trophy, adaptable Cash 106, excellent big-mountain-powder Rapture, and more.
You don’t want to miss this one, so enter before Friday, October 7 for your chance to win! (And even if you don’t win, you can still try a ton of Folsom skis — and meet the folks who design and build them — at our Blister Summit.)
Eligibility & How to Enter
For this week’s giveaway, we’re doing something a little different: to be eligible to win, entrants need to:
(1) Follow @folsomskis and @blisterreview on Instagram or like Folsom and Blister on Facebook
(2) And tag 3 friends in the comments of this Instagram post or this Facebook post.
(Skis will be shipped for free to anywhere in the world. Winner will be chosen at random and announced next Friday in our Blister Newsletter and on Blister’s Instagram. Must be 18 or older.)
Kick it into gear for the upcoming season!
Blister subscriber here of several seasons. I hate this eligibility program requiring me to tag others. I do not like to use social media for this and you’re forcing me to spam others to promote blister. I cannot reiterate how much I hate this. I don’t expect to win gear giveaways. But don’t make me do your marketing for you.
I agree 100%. Tagging and spamming people does not seem like a good way to promote Blister.
The rules for this particular giveaway are unique; it’s not a new norm. And as always, if you don’t like the specific terms of a particular giveaway, then you certainly are under no obligation to enter to win free products.
I would have to agree, I would delete my account but don’t want to open it and get sucked into the matrix.
To be clear: we do not get to categorically set the terms and conditions of our giveaways. We often have to work with a company’s available inventory. We often have to work with the particular sweeptake regulations in various countries. And we often have to work shipping restrictions set by companies.
Still, we think it’s a very positive thing to be able to offer our community the chance to win free gear – often very expensive free gear – every single week, which we’ve been doing for years.
And we did not set the terms of this particular giveaway.
But we have many hundreds of people who have happily signed up for this giveaway excited for the chance to win some outstanding skis, and in this one instance, Kristin and Luke decided that giving people this opportunity and choice to enter – or not enter – was worth it.
As Kristin already said, the particular terms of this giveaway are not the new norm. And I can go further to tell you that this is a one-time occurence. Though frankly, even if it wasn’t, I agree with Tim that I personally can’t imagine complaining about a free and completely voluntary giveaway. Or making some of the pronouncements – unfounded assumptions made with such confidence – that I’m seeing in these comments.
Jonathan, As im getting older im clearly becoming the “get off my lawn guy”!
I don’t mind supporting Folsom And Blister with my hard earned money, But everything these days seems try to get me to spend more time on SM. I clearly understand SM has a place in marketing, but just wanted to voice my opinion.
Strongly agree with the above comment. Blister has really dropped the ball on this one. Shame on you! You should know better
Please see my comments above.
To Jonathan and Blister staff – this is feedback. Everyone is aware that participation in a sweepstakes is voluntary. Your customers are expressing their opinions in an adult professional manner, however. While social media is an effective marketing tool, some people find marketing that encourages spamming of friends to be intrusive. I appreciate that a sponsor sets the terms of their sweepstakes. Your company should, and will, make the right decisions for it as a business entity. Just be cognizant that this marketing strategy may be off putting to some customers.
Cringe
Ill do it this time, please don’t do this style again
What? Make me complicit in having my friends spammed for marketing Blister? Fire your marketing director! You asked for comments Kristen. Listen.
On one hand this is an awful format that nobody likes. On the other hand it’s kind of weird to complain about a free ski giveaway that’s completely voluntary.
Yes I agree I don’t like to have to do the marketing either! I have to do enough marketing for my own business as it is!
I am happy not to take part in this giveaway. Would love to win these skis but I don’t like unsolicited marketing si i can’t tag others- no skis for me. Think this idea is an error but love Blister so a forgivable one.
Hi there,
i will NOT complain, but i do not even have an Insta- or Facebook-account. So, nothing this time!!!
I love how everyone here feels very entitled to their weekly free sweepstakes entries lol. Never seen so much complaining over FREE gear.
I’m with others in disliking the terms of this week’s giveaway. I won’t complain too hard as it’s free and voluntary but I won’t be entering myself. However, my gripe is on different grounds than others. I’m happy to spread the word of Blister and Folsom, but my issue is with the requirement to use Meta products. I completely understand they are the 500lb gorilla in the social media world, but I work hard to avoid using their “free” products. In my opinion, the company is pure evil. With all the destructive influences Meta has had on our society and their complete lack of corporate morality, I wish a company as principled as Blister would avoid the association with a company as unprincipled as Meta.
Oh yeah. Put that under my feet. Ready set drop.
Love Folsom and what they represent. I’m happy to receive marketing materials on multiple platforms. But I’m not going to make that decision for my friends. Doesn’t really fit what Folsom is selling.
I don’t like tagging friends on social media and so I’m not going to participate in this giveaway contest. Totally voluntary so no need to get upset. Man, the folks saying “shame on you” and “fire your marketing director” need to calm down. I try to remember to comment online as if I were talking to someone face to face in real life. The tone changes when you think of it that way.
100% agree with Brice on all his points.
Ditto, don’t have the relevant accounts so won’t be entering. But thank you Brice for articulating a good life principle.
Thank you Brice. I’m sorry Kristen.
