What Moment says about the Sierra Tour
“The original Sierra was Moment’s unofficial women’s touring ski for a long time. Narrower, but also a fair bit lighter than the Bella, it’s been the easy choice for anything more than a quick lap out the gate or a mellow pucker factor. But you deserve far more than just compromise, and that’s where the Sierra Tour comes in. Featuring the same versatile dimensions and profile of the in-bounds Sierra without the weight penalty, it’s a real-deal tour weapon, ready for long distances, multi-day hut trips, and technical objectives. If you’ve been waiting for the ski that can handle your fourteener dreams, billy-goat with you through no-fall-zones in Chamonix, or simply make you feel like a ski-mo race champion on your morning groomer skin with the lady shred squad, consider the wait officially over. The Sierra Tour has arrived.”
Flex Pattern
Here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the Sierra Tour:
Tips: 6.5-7
Shovels: 7
In Front of Toe Piece: 8-9
Underfoot: 9.5
Behind the Heel Piece: 9.5-8.5
Tails: 8-6.5
Stay Tuned…
With plenty of coverage in the Crested Butte backcountry, we should be getting the new Moment Sierra Tour into some enjoyable terrain soon. In the meantime, let us know what questions you’d like us to answer about the Sierra Tour.
Moment seems like a cool company, and this is probably an awesome ski. That makes it all the more disappointing that the come out with such false marketing.
“make you feel like a ski-mo race champion on your morning groomer skin” really? A ski that is 30% wider and twice as heavy is still supposed to feel like similar?
With that logic, you could also say that it will make you feel like a FWT competitor skiing deep powder and spines in AK in a movie.
After all, it’s just as close to a 150mm wide, 2800g ski as it is to a skimo ski.
Geez.. chilll..my light touring skis absolutely RIP the groomers to shreds! You can too! It’s not the scoot sticks- it’s the skier imho
⛷
I think its called hyperbole
I look forward to the full review on the Sierra, the 171 is on our radar for to pair with Shifts as a Alyeska/Turnagain pass ski.
Looking forward to this review. Will it be available to read anytime soon?
