Intro
RockShox has announced a whole bunch of updates to their suspension lineup, including a new Charger 3.1 damper, Vivid Coil shock, revised Super Deluxe shock, and more. There’s a lot going on here, so let’s dive right in.
2025 RockShox Forks
RockShox overhauled their BoXXer DH fork and XC-oriented SID last year, and now the middle three forks in their flagship lineup — the Pike, Lyrik, and ZEB — get some updates. (RockShox also launched new Psylo and Domain forks a couple of months back, to round out the more affordable part of their lineup.)
The updates aren’t as dramatic as the last time the Pike, Lyrik, and ZEB got overhauled, but all three get a revised Charger 3.1 damper and new bushing. The Pike’s DebonAir+ air spring has also been tweaked, and the ZEB is now available in red.
Charger 3.1 Damper
The Pike, Lyrik, and ZEB all get the new Charger 3.1 damper — which, as the name would suggest, is more of an evolution of the Charger 3 that’s been around for a few years, rather than an entirely new ground-up design. The overall architecture is similar to the Charger 3, but RockShox worked to increase the overall compression adjustment range — particularly the ability to run less low-speed compression and more high-speed damping.
[For a lot more on the Charger 3 damper, check out our First Look on it from when it was released, and our reviews of the ZEB and BoXXer.]
RockShox says that the low-speed compression circuit can flow 68% more oil than the Charger 3 version, for reduced damping with the LSC adjuster at the open end of the range. On the flip side, they’ve revised the high-speed compression pyramid to offer more damping at the firmer end of the adjustment range. The IFP spring has been stiffened up to accommodate those tweaks, and the mid-valve check spring has been redesigned to flow more freely as well.
All that adds up to a substantially wider overall adjustment range — particularly at the firmer end of the HSC settings, but pretty much everywhere to some extent.
RockShox is also offering the complete Charger 3.1 RC2 damper assembly as an upgrade kit for 2023+ model year Pike and Lyrik forks and 2021+ ZEBs. The damper retails for $358 / €386 / £345. If you already have a Charger 3 RC2 version of one of those forks — or the 2024+ BoXXer — there’s also a Charger 3.1 RC2 piston kit available for $75 / €80 / £72. Opting for the less expensive piston kit requires a more involved teardown of the damper, rather than the drop-in installation of the full damper cartridge, but gets you fully up to Charger 3.1 spec for a lot less money. The piston kit is also only compatible with the high-end RC2 version of the Charger 3 damper. If you have one of the more basic configurations, you’ll need to go for the full damper cartridge.
RockShox also now offers three different rebound tunes and two compression ones for the Charger 3.1 damper. The standard valving is the middle of the three rebound configurations and lighter of the two compression tunes; the shim tuning kit with all of the options and the custom tool needed to swap them is available for $30 / €32 / £29.
DebonAir+ Air Spring
The Lyrik and ZEB’s air springs carry over unchanged, but the Pike gets an extended top cap on the air spring piston to increase the negative chamber volume. The main goal was to increase small-bump sensitivity and traction, by making the fork more supple in the early part of the travel. Interestingly, the ZEB’s spring already had a similar arrangement, dating back to the launch of the DebonAir+ springs for the 2023 model year; the Lyrik is now the only one of the three without that style of extended air piston, though its negative chamber is substantially bigger than that of the prior-generation Pike DebonAir+.
New Fork Bushings
RockShox has also overhauled the bushings on all trim levels of all three forks. Exact details on what they’ve tweaked are sparse, but RockShox says that they’ve revised their specs for reaming the lower legs and sizing the bushings to reduce friction and make for more consistent performance from fork to fork.
2025 RockShox Pike
The Pike (the brand’s mid-travel Trail bike fork) keeps the same chassis as before (bushing updates excepted) and is still offered in the same configurations (27.5” or 29” wheels, with 120, 130, or 140 mm of travel). The new spring and damper can be retrofitted to 2023+ model year versions, but not any farther back.

2025 RockShox Shock Lineup
RockShox also made some tweaks to their existing shock lineup, and added a new coil-sprung version of the Vivid.
2025 RockShox Vivid Coil Shocks
The biggest news on the rear-shock front is that there’s now a new coil-sprung version of the Vivid. The damper is nearly identical to that of the air-sprung version, which launched last year (check out our First Look on the Vivid Air for more info). As with the air-sprung version, all tiers of the Vivid Coil get adjustable hydraulic bottom-out control and RockShox’s “TouchDown” damper arrangement, which bypasses the main piston at the very start of the stroke for reduced compression damping off the top. The top-tier Vivid Coil Ultimate and Vivid Coil Ultimate DH are available aftermarket; they feature adjustable rebound and high- and low-speed compression (the Vivid Coil Ultimate has a climb switch, the DH version does not).
The Vivid Coil Select+ drops down to a single compression adjuster plus a climb switch, and the Vivid Coil Select has a climb switch but no other compression adjustments. Finally, the Vivid Coil forgoes the climb switch as well. The latter three variants are only available OE (i.e., on complete bikes / frames).
The Vivid Coil takes the place of the Super Deluxe Coil in RockShox’s lineup, but the Vivid Air and Super Deluxe (the air-sprung version) live on.

2025 RockShox Super Deluxe Shocks
The air-sprung version of the Super Deluxe rear shock also gets some updates, most of which mirror the tweaks to the fork lineup (and again, the Super Deluxe Coil is no more). The Super Deluxe gets a new main piston, which RockShox says flows more oil through the low-speed compression circuit for increased traction and a smoother transition from the low-speed circuit to the high-speed one. The new piston is available as a retrofittable upgrade for prior-generation Super Deluxe shocks for $40 / €43 / £39.
RockShox has also added a third air can option for the Super Deluxe, on top of the Linear and Progressive options previously offered. The new Linear XL can is higher volume than the existing Linear option, and is meant to span the gap between the Super Deluxe with the Linear can and the high-volume Vivid. It’s compatible with 2023+ Super Deluxe and Deluxe shocks and retails for / $97 / €111 / £99.
The full range of air spring curves across the three different air cans and their minimum and maximum volume spacer configurations are shown below:

Bottom Line (For Now)
RockShox has found a lot to tweak with the latest round of updates to their suspension lineup, and we’ll be getting on an assortment of it soon. We’re curious to see how the damper updates perform, how the new Vivid Coil rides, and so on. Stay tuned for much more on the new forks and shocks soon.
