So who was really behind the creation of BLISTER, how did the whole thing get started, and was it actually due to a misunderstanding over a couple of beers on the weekend of Independence Day, 2010? Today, we dive into all of the above with my good friend, Michael Clarke, and we also discuss giant tortoises, some keys to long-lasting friendships, and more.

  1. It’s hilarious listening to comments on the Line Prophet 100 and the Armada JJ. So a classic “it’s the equipment not me” reaction inspired the road leading to Blister. If the reaction was “wow what is it about my skiing that I keep going over the handlebars, maybe I should do a lesson”, Blister as we know it would not exist.

    • Or maybe it takes someone who hasn’t taken a lot of lessons to recognize that with wide skis it shouldn’t be necessary to use completely different technique for powder. I think a lot of us had bad cases of Stockholm syndrome back then.

  2. One other remark: I appreciate the way that Blister has stayed completely out of the business of ranking resorts/runs/etc, and been fairly up front (probably as much as you’re allowed to be) about where you are receiving support. We all have to pay the bills somehow, and I think that the way you’ve done it is a very reasonable approach.

  3. Jonathan’s story about his first time on a mogul run provides some good context for when him and Luke have differing opinions of how a ski does in bumps.
