Last week on Blister Cinematic we discussed Forrest Gump, a film that Brendan Leonard believes introduced millions of people to ultrarunning. Today, Cody Townsend and I are discussing what many people regard as the greatest ultra film of all time, ‘Unbreakable: The Western States 100.’ It documents the 2010 running of Western States, and the 2025 race happens this Saturday, June 28. As always, Cody and I discuss what’s aged the best, what’s aged the worst, who needed BLISTER+ the most, and more.
Let Us Know Your Thoughts!
Email us here or leave a comment below with your hot take or thoughts on the film. Or email tell us which movies you’d like to see us cover on Blister Cinematic.

Jonathan and Cody,
You both played Football, and you are talking @%$T about a guy in White Spandex? What kind of football pants were you guys playing in TWEED?
BTW, if I am 22 years old and one for the Best in The World, yes I am 100% showing up with some flair in my outfit to crush dreams at one of the biggest races. Go Kilian!!! Seriously though he may have been wearing White to deflect some of the Heat.
Enjoyed the show and movie. Was this win something that would have changed the life of Geoff Roes financially or were Ultra’s still too new at that time? I assume the top racers today, can race and train on sponsorship without having to work.
Jonathan great job on Blister Cinematic the last few shows. Making car time easy.
Ha, you’re right – all the shorts comments were probably just jealousy that he could pull that look off? Maybe? And I don’t how how many top racers can fully support themselves on sponsorships – but I would wager that that number of folks is smaller than you might imagine. Or that the number of years in which they could be in such a situation is shorter than you might think.
Glad you’re enjoying Cinematic, Pete!
