Since she was a teenager, Sasha DiGiulian has been in the spotlight as an up and coming climber who would go on to win multiple national titles and the title of world champion.

These days, Sasha is also a speaker, an author of the book, Take the Lead, the founder and CEO of Send Bars, and the subject of a new documentary that comes out tomorrow on HBO and Max, Here to Climb.

The documentary tells the story of Sasha’s compelling journey and remarkable achievements, but it also delves into the topics of self worth and where we find it; drive and ambition; the pressure to conform and fall in line within our respective communities; making a living as a professional outdoor athlete; success, and what that looks like; and it’s a reflection on purpose, satisfaction, and joy. So while it very much sheds light on someone you … might think you already know well, it also serves as a catalyst to get each of us thinking about some of these topics that are crucial elements for each of us to get clear on.

I spoke with Sasha recently about this film – but mostly took the opportunity to explore some topics that the film couldn’t go into. You know, like how the show Gossip Girls led her to make one of the most significant decisions of her life. True story.
