Today I’m talking with Elyse Saugstad, one of the stars of Here, Hold My Kid, about the hilarious new film she made with fellow professional skier, Jackie Paaso, and their husbands, Cody Townsend and Reine Barkered, who also happen to be professional skiers, which of course doesn’t matter, because this film is not about them.
Elyse and I discuss the challenges of making comedies in 2023 and making films starring little kids; which actor is the best James Bond; and a whole lot more.

I watched this the other night, by far the most entertaining ski movie I’ve seen in a while. Elyse and Jackie were great as the I-can-do-it-all-even-though-I-have-a-kid mom’s. Of course the actual skiing was phenomenal. The fight scene at the end was a bit over the top but loved scenes where Elyse and Jackie were trying to one up each other. Elyse’s Instagram meltdown was classic. Watched it again the next night with my wife and we both cracked up.
Random thing that struck a nerve: The thing where kids don’t fully stop puking for a couple weeks after they’ve been sick is the worst.
