Wearing an anorak is like riding a fixie.
I am newly single and Sam’s online dating comments are spot on. Lots of texting and when I say ‘hey let’s go skiing or have a drink’ she disappears (but not always). I agree that swipelife has also hurt the in-person socializing and made it weird to just chat someone up in a bar. I think the app companies should do more to host events where users can all meet in person. But then again, they probably know that most users don’t want to even meet in person… so not a huge incentive to change things up.
Amazing that 70% of tinder users have never been on a date. I am in my 40s and just like Jonathan, my married buddies are so curious about #swipelife.
And as for Sam’s new idea, just remember that would you and your buddies think would be amazing, most people would not. Most people don’t geek out on skis, hike steep lines and just live like you do. It’s a classic mistake to open a restaurant you think is perfect, and then have it fail.
Lift-served skiing is a great place for a date. Time to chat on the lift. You can see he/she can ski at what level. And there is always the bar.
