Today we are launching a new Blister Podcast special series, called, ‘Off the Clock,’ and fittingly, given that the New England Patriots are in the Super Bowl this Sunday, we are kicking things off with former New England Patriots quarterback, Drew Bledsoe. But what you might not know about this former #1 pick in the NFL draft is that his first love wasn’t football, it was skiing. And today, you’ll hear just how meaningful skiing has been to Drew throughout his entire life.

Jonathan,
Drew Bledsoe!!!! Freaking Awesome!!! You definitely earned a Helmet Sticker for this one.
Btw, Calvin Johnson or as you probably know him by Megtron, is a Snow Boarder. Maybe he can give you some advice on riding sideways.
Great show!
P.S
I wonder how much S- Talking goes on between Drew and Tom Brady up at the Yellowstone Club.
Megatron snowboards?? I had no idea. Definite candidate there for ‘Off the Clock’…
Re: the amount of shit talking between Drew & Brady … I’m confident – given Drew’s performance at Tom Brady’s roast on Netflix – the answer is: A LOT.
I’m not really a football guy, but this was a very enjoyable conversation. I’m looking forward to hearing more conversations with interesting people who love skiing but aren’t pros or in the industry. So cool to hear about the connections between skiing and football, and I’d be super into hearing people from all sorts of fields have similar conversations.
Also, just one idea for a guest that would be truly top-tier…
Jodie Foster, when asked by Stephen Colbert to describe the rest of her life in five words she said: Food, Movies, Skiing, Bed, and My Family. I think she might have some good stuff to say about being maybe a little obsessed with skiing.
Jodie Foster is incredible, I had no idea she loved skiing. She’s going on the list for sure.
Great interview! Drew’s absolutely right, skiing is therapy.
There’s a few other former pro football players who ski. The Kelce brothers both ski along with Matt Leinart (although I’m not sure he’s been skiing since he had a double hip replacement). RGIII started snowboarding last winter as well.
He’s not a football player, but Matthieu van der Poel posted a video of himself skiing the day after he won his 8th World Cyclo-cross Championship. He might be a good guest for a future episode.
First, I just have to say Thank you!! I grew up a Pats and going to a lot of the games. I was on the side for Bledsoe to come back in once he was ready to return.
I moved to Nashville as a professional ballroom dancer. The studio that hired me didn’t know I was a skier so when they found out I had the same deal. I learned to not say anything else
Re Gronk skiing, I seem to recall coming across this YT clip as a result of a Blister pod about Pit Viper

Think you might have even posted this same clip 19 April 2021
