  1. What Kipchoge is doing right now is unprecedented in marathoning, and mainstream running in general. Sure the running world should pay more attention to Killian’s success, but ultimately he is competing in a fringe sport. Kipchoge’s dominance in one of the most contested events in the sport of running is outrageous. While I agree with Cody’s distaste for the “GOAT” arguments that have taken over, Kipchoge is indeed, quantifiably, the GOAT. His dominance is the most under reported story in sports, and he ought to be talked about in the same category as Ali, Jordan, and the other most revered athletes in sport. I’d go so far as to argue he is more dominant in his particular sport than anyone we’ve seen in recent memory. Cody’s dismissiveness of this particular topic was unduly grumpy, unwarranted, and disappointing. Cheers to your less grumpy approach Jonathan.

  2. Wrexham is a city and football club in North Wales, it was recently bought by ryan reynolds and rob mcelhenney bought the football club and have made it internationally famous with the documentary. They are also learning Welsh

  3. Once, was trying to remember who had the most skiing world cup wins—I thought Stenmark but was curious as to who else and how close Mikaela was etc. What I discovered is that ski racing has a GOAT, and I’d never even heard of her:

I knew about Marit BjørgenIts but had never even heard of Amélie Wenger Reymond. Her record is even more impressive when you look at her individual record: since 2012 there are 3 races she’s entered in which she was not 1st or 2nd.

You can say its Telemark, but she’s up there on the all time list of people who were most dominant in their sport.

  4. Listened to your “What actually is a “Mtn Town”?” segment while ‘commuting’ through Bozeman the other day. As a Bozemanite, I think you were spot on. Bozeman 5ish years ago felt much more like a mountain town, now is is beginning (just beginning) to feel like a mountain-adjacent city. I have lived in mountain adjacent cities (Denver, SLC, etc) and mountain towns (Truckee, Moab, Jackson Hole) and Bozeman is definitely trending in the direction you pointed to. Still super fun place to be with awesome access, but as you drive through it doesn’t feel like a Crested Butte or Jackson, it feels more like what it is becoming, a place which has great quality of life, so people want to come and be close to nature, but many aren’t necessarily too bothered if they aren’t out in it all the time. There is also a growing population of people who aren’t that into the outdoors at all.

Bozeman is also blowing up, with tons of new subdivisions going in, combining that with tech and healthcare industries coming in and it really loses the mountain town flavor. Not bad, just different. I loved living in SLC, even though (as Cody pointed out) the folks that are there mostly for the mountains are a minority.

Putting Bozeman as the mountain-town-midpoint makes total sense to me and I agree with your assessment that it will tip to not-mountain town in the near future.

Thank you for the awesome show! Always look forward to your “reviewing the news” episodes.
