What Liberty says about the Origin 101
“The Origin101 has the perfect width to take on whatever the day brings. With VMT1.0® construction and PU sidewalls, the 101 can carve up the frontside and jump into the back with confidence. With the nimbleness of a narrower ski and enough float to smooth out snowy days, the new Origin101 is your ticket to ride on any mountain.”
What we said about the Origin 101 in our 21/22 Winter Buyer’s Guide
“All of Liberty’s Origin skis feature a new construction for 21/22, and there’s also a brand-new model, the Origin 101. The Origin 101 feels very similar to the 20/21 Origin 96 and 106, which is a good thing — all of the Origins have been intuitive, lightweight skis that you can still ski pretty hard in a very wide range of conditions. The Origin 101’s deep but low-slung rocker lines equate to excellent flotation for its width, but it also carves very well when you lay it over. The 21/22 construction makes the new skis feel a bit stronger, more stable, and a tiny bit less forgiving, but the Origin 101 will still be most appealing to those who want a light, nimble, and maneuverable ski, rather than a really damp one. The Origin 101 is fairly similar overall to the DPS Pagoda 100 RP, but the Origin 101 will be a better choice if you want a more playful ski that’s a bit more engaging on piste.”
Flex Pattern
Here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the Origin 101:
Tips: 6.5
Shovels: 6.5-7.5
In Front of Toe Piece: 8-10
Underfoot: 10
Behind the Heel Piece: 10-9
Tails: 8.5-7
The flex pattern of the Origin 101 is quite similar to the 20/21 Origin 96, though the Origin 101 is slightly stiffer overall.
