The first thing I noticed about the Woolrich Beebee Leather Boot was its cool aesthetic; Woolrich put a feminine twist on a classic men’s workboot. The Beebee has a tomboy-chic style to it, which seems to be pretty trendy right now. However, the boot has a timeless look in the way that a simple handmade sweater or a well-worn flannel never seems out of style.
The Beebee Leather is a durable boot made of a soft but sturdy leather and has a thin wool inner lining. The boot is cozy and warm without feeling too clunky. I’ve worn the Beebee Leather boot with skinny jeans, leggings and even a skirt and tights, but could comfortably throw them on for a short hike or wear them at the bar après ski.
I usually wear a size 7, and the 7 Beebee Leather boot is pretty roomy. I have a narrow foot, so I wasn’t too surprised that there was extra space on each side of the boot. My feet are slightly long for a size 7, but the boot wasn’t too restricting in the toes. If you’re between sizes, I’d suggest sizing down before sizing up in the Beebee.
The Beebee boots have kept my feet warm in colder temperatures and dry in moderate Seattle rainfall. The boots are not truly waterproof, but I trust them to keep my feet dry when there’s light to moderate precipitation.
The Beebee Leather boot has Vibram soles, which I love. I’ve always trusted the grip of Vibram soles on my hiking boots and ski boots, so I was pretty impressed that Woolrich used a Vibram sole on the more casual Beebee. While I certainly don’t think this boot should be taken on a mountaineering or backpacking trip, it has a lot more traction than most other street shoes, which I really appreciated while running down steep Seattle sidewalks to catch a bus. I didn’t find the boot’s more substantial Vibram sole to be too bulky, though, and the boot still looks more stylish than technical. The outsole is pretty flat and keeps your feet low to the ground, but the boot is still supportive enough to wear comfortably all day.
Bottom Line
The Woolrich Beebee Leather boot puts a stylish, feminine touch on a classic workboot design that’s comfortable and provides good traction.
