Völkl just announced two new additions to their freeski collection, the Revolt 86 and the Revolt 101. Both will be available for sale in the fall of 2025. We recently started testing two lengths of the Revolt 101, and you can check out our Flash Review for our initial impressions. In the meantime, here we’ve added some more details on this new ski.
In short, the Revolt 101 takes a lot of inspiration from the Revolt 114. For those unfamiliar, the Revolt 114 is a bit of an outlier in the Revolt collection, in that the 114 is a notably more directional ski. We were really impressed by its performance as a powder and soft-chop ski, so we’re excited to get more time on its new, narrower sibling.
What Völkl says about the Revolt 101 & Revolt 86:
“With the new Revolt 101 and a reworked Revolt 86, Völkl adds two new models to its progressive freeski lineup. Following the spirit of the Völkl “Built Together” philosophy, the skis were developed in close collaboration with athletes, engineers, and artists. From daily sporty, playful runs at the resort to park, slopestyle and big air, the two models blend freestyle with all mountain performance and impress with Völkl innovative technologies and unique designs the Revolt series is known for. In the spirit of the Völkl Built Together tradition, for the 25/26 season Völkl worked with Canadian artist Tylor Macmillan to create compelling top sheet designs that embody the performance characteristics of the Revolt models, including the new Revolt 101 and reworked Revolt 86. Macmillan’s designs are restrained and clean using matte surfaces and uniform tones that form the foundation for abstract elements inspired by the mountains for a lineup that once again is visually captivating.”

Construction
As with many of the other Revolts, the Revolt 101 features a poplar / beech wood core, fiberglass laminate, full-length sidewalls with a mini-cap finish, a fiberglass laminate, and a sintered P-Tex 2100 base.
Shape & Rocker Profile
The Revolt 101 looks very much like a shrunken-down Revolt 114; the two skis have very similar shapes and rocker liners. Both feature minimal early tapering at their tips but have more tapered tail shapes. Both have pretty deep but very low-slung rocker lines. Unsurprisingly, the Revolt 101’s rocker lines are a bit shallower than the more pow-oriented 114, but the Revolt 101 still has pretty deep rocker lines relative to other ~100mm-wide skis. I wouldn’t call the Revolt 101’s tail a ‘true twin,’ but it does have enough tail splay to allow for switch skiing in shallow-ish snow.
Flex Pattern
Here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the 182 cm Revolt 101:
Tips: 8
Shovels: 8.5-9
In Front of Toe Piece: 9-10
Underfoot: 10
Behind the Heel Piece: 10-9.5
Tails: 9-7
And here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the 175 cm Revolt 101:
Tips: 7.5
Shovels: 8-9
In Front of Toe Piece: 9-10
Underfoot: 10
Behind the Heel Piece: 9.5-9
Tails: 8.5-7
The Revolt 101 is a very strong ski overall. The very end of its tail softens up a bit, but the vast majority of the ski is quite stiff.
Sidecut Radius
Like many Völkl skis, the Revolt 101 features their “3D Radius” sidecut design. In short, it features long radii at the tips and tails that are blended into a tighter radius underfoot. The idea is that you get less hooky and more predictable tips and tails when making bigger turns through variable snow, while still being able to make tighter carves using the middle of the ski. In the case of the 182 cm Revolt 101, the stated sidecut radii numbers are 24.6 m (shovel) / 19 m (waist) / 22.4 m (tail).
Mount Point
The Revolt 101’s recommended mount point is about -7 cm from true center, which slots right between the mount points of more freestyle-specific skis like the Revolt 104 (-2 cm) and more traditional directional skis like the Völkl Mantra 102 (-11 cm).
Weight (and Comparisons)
Our 182 cm Revolt 101 averages out to about 2070 grams per ski, which isn’t particularly heavy for its class, nor is it notably light. But it is a lot lighter than the Revolt 114.
For reference, below are some of our measured weights (per ski in grams) for some notable skis. As always, keep in mind the length and width differences to try to keep things more apples-to-apples.
