Intro
Today, Nordica announced some new additions to their Unleashed collection of playful freeride skis.
The brand-new Unleashed 106 and Unleashed 106 CA essentially replace the prior Unleashed 108, filling out the middle of the lineup, with five other models covering the narrower and wider widths (Unleashed 90, 98, 98 CA, 114, and 120).
Similar to what Nordica has done with the Unleashed 98 and Unleashed 98 CA, the Unleashed 106 features a single partial layer of metal that runs along the middle of the ski, whereas the Unleashed 106 CA forgoes that metal layer for a lighter and more agile ride.
The new Unleashed 106 and 106 CA can now be found in limited quantities at select Nordica dealers, with a full release expected during the second half of 2026.
We’ve started spending time on the Unleashed 106 CA, and if you’re a BLISTER+ member or have our Digital Access Pass, you can check out our Flash Review for my initial on-snow impressions.
We’re looking forward to logging more laps on this ski in the future, especially now that there’s some snow in the forecast. For the time being, below is more info on the Unleashed 106 CA’s design and specs:
What Nordica says about the Unleashed 106 CA:
“For skiers who prioritize a lighter, more playful feel, the Unleashed 106 CA brings a metal-free construction with added carbon for a responsive, surfy ride. Built around Nordica’s Freeride Flow Shape—an early-rise tip and tail with camber underfoot—this ski encourages effortless pivots, poppy transitions, and creative movement through soft snow, trees, and natural terrain. A lite performance wood core combined with carbon stringers keeps the ski lively and energetic without added weight, making it ideal for skiers who want maximum fun and freedom in every condition.”
—Nordica Skis
Construction
The Unleashed 106 CA features a poplar wood core, carbon stringers, a fiberglass laminate, and a sintered base material. As with many of Nordica’s recent skis, it features their “True Tip” construction, which extends the wood core farther toward the tip of the ski (where many skis feature a heavier synthetic tip insert), with the goal of reducing swing weight.
Shape & Rocker Profile
The Unleashed 106 shape appears very similar to the prior Unleashed 108. However, it looks like Nordica has tapered its tips and tails a bit more, which could lend it a looser / surfier ride. Between its modestly rockered tips and tails (for a freestyle-friendly ski), the 106 is mostly cambered, and it features a slightly more twinned tail design vs. Nordica’s more directional Enforcer 104.
Flex Pattern
Here’s how we’d characterize the flex pattern of the Unleashed 106 CA:
Tips: 5.5-6
Shovels: 6-7.5
In Front of Toe Piece: 8-10
Underfoot: 10
Behind the Heel Piece: 10-9
Tails: 8.5-7
The very ends of the Unleashed 106 CA’s tips are quite soft, but it stiffens substantially once you get to the cambered portion of the ski, and its back half is a bit stiffer overall than the front. For a freestyle-friendly ski, I’d put the Unleashed 106 CA on the stiffer end of the spectrum.
Mount Point
Similar to the Unleashed 108, the Unleashed 106 has a recommended mount point (about -8.5 cm from true center) that sits roughly in the middle between super freestyle-focused skis and very directional ones.
Weight (and Comparisons)
Our 185 cm Unleashed 106 CA weighs about 1890 grams per ski. That’s pretty light for a ski of this width and length, but there are plenty of comparable skis that come in at similar weights.
For what it’s worth, Nordica’s stated weight for the metal-laminate 185 cm Unleashed 106 is only 40 grams heavier per ski than their weight for the CA version. Their stated weight for the standard Unleashed 106 (1900 g / ski) is a good bit lighter than our measured weight of the prior 186 cm Unleashed 108 (~2087 g / ski).
For reference, here are some of our measured weights (per ski in grams) for some notable skis. As always, keep in mind the length and width differences to try to keep things more apples-to-apples.

Some Questions / Things We’re Curious About
(1) Nordica is claiming that the new Unleashed 106 shape is a ground-up overhaul, relative to the prior Unleashed 108. So, just how different is this new ski?
(2) We found the metal-laminate Unleashed 108 to provide a combo of suspension and agility that could work for a lot of playful skiers. How will the lighter Unleashed 106 CA compare in these regards?
(3) The Unleashed 106 CA’s twinned tail suggests freestyle capability, but it doesn’t have a super centered mount point. So, do you need to be throwing tricks and skiing switch to enjoy it, or will certain directional skiers also have reason to try this ski?
