Brake Shootout, New RockShox Pike, Revel Rail 29, & More (Ep.138)
Dylan Wood on the Revel Rail 29

We’ve been testing a ton of new bikes and gear (as always) and we’ve got updates on a bunch of it including the new Santa Cruz Tallboy and the RockShox Pike that came on it; the Intense Tracer 279; the Kavenz VHP 16; we chat about crank length and Hope’s new super-short 155 mm option; we offer some updates on our upcoming brake shootout, and thoughts on brake selection in general; and a whole bunch more.

  1. Your reviews really scratch my itch to nerd out on bikes. I’m curious to hear about the 155 cranks. I’ve been on 175s, 170, and 165mm cranks on numerous bikes. I have mostly settled on 165s for my enduro bike mainly because I like the ground clearance. I’m 6’1 with about 35 inch inseam for reference.

  2. I love the 152 Trailcraft kids cranks I have on my enduro bike. Short guy with short legs (5’8″, 29″ inseam). My knees are happier with the smaller circles, better ground clearance on tech climbs, and no real downsides that I notice.
