Reviewer Reports: Leogang; Long & Short Travel Bikes; & the Future of Mullets (Ep.70)

On this episode of Blister's Bikes & Big Ideas Podcast, Jonathan Ellsworth, David Golay, and Eric Freson discuss the DH races in Leogang; the long and short travel bikes we’ve been spending time on; whether mullet bikes will be more or less of a thing in 5 years; and the bike equivalent of telemark skiing.

This week I’m talking with our reviewers David Golay and Eric Freson about our various injuries; last weekend’s DH races in Leogang; the bikes they’ve been spending time on; whether mullet bikes will be more or less of a thing in 5 years; and the bike equivalent of telemark skiing.

  1. Hardtail to tele is a very solid analogy – although likely most relevant for the experienced mountain biker. As a beginner riding a hardtail with more modern geometry and specs its a great way to get into the sport and learn without a gargantuan pile of cash (like the canyon stoic review). Tele…not so much…

But skiing I have literally said so many times, “man I should learn to tele so skiing with my family is more fun and I go slower” which I believe is along the same lines of buying a hardtail for your experienced shredder.

  2. I would love if you (or anyone) would compare the bikes you are testing to some older references that were stand out bikes when they were released and are actually still sold, such as the Yeti SB130.

For me, even though it is in its third year, it seems that nothing has been released since that surpasses it in climbing efficiency or downhill prowess.

    What do you think?
