[Editor’s Note: Our “First Looks” are our way of getting you information sooner on some of the products we’re reviewing, including our measured specs and the details from the manufacturer. When we’re able to spend extensive time testing a given product, we publish our in-depth Full Reviews and Deep Dive comparisons.]

Intro

Salomon recently announced their first boot models to feature two BOA closures for both the lower shell and upper cuff. Until now, single BOA closures were only used on the lower shells of ski boots, promising more uniform tightening and easier fine-tuning compared to traditional buckles – but no boots had utilized a BOA on the upper cuff. That changed following the announcements of several dual-BOA boots, including Salomon’s new S/Pro Supra Dual BOA collection, which we covered in our initial writeup.

For the past few years, Salomon’s S/Pro Supra series has served as their medium-volume offering in the all-mountain category, offering a roomier fit than their S/Pro Alpha series but with similar features, including a fairly lightweight build, heat-moldable shells and liners, etc. For the 25/26 lineup, Salomon will offer S/Pro Supra boots with traditional buckles, BOA dials for the lower shell, and the new dual-BOA variants.

Now that we have the new S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 120 GW boots in hand for long-term testing, we’re adding some of our measured specs and photos here. We’ll continue testing it moving forward, so keep an eye out for Flash Reviews, as well as a video on our YouTube channel, where we’ll show exactly how these dual-BOA systems function.

Additionally, for more on the R&D process behind the S/Pro Supra Dual BOA boots, check out episode #332 of our GEAR:30 podcast, where we chat with Salomon’s Lauren Samuels and Cesar Brouck about how they settled on this final design.

What Salomon says about the S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 120 GW boots:

“Salomon's S/Pro Supra Dual BOA® 120 boots revolutionize micro-adjustable sensitivity to offer skiers superior control. With two BOA® dials, they deliver a customized fit, providing optimal support at the cuff and precise comfort in the lower shell. The result? A boot that enhances performance while keeping you comfortable on every slope.”

The Salomon S/Pro Supra Dual BOA Series & Models

The 25/26 S/Pro Supra Dual BOA series will include two men’s boots and two women’s models. Below is the full list, including the sizes that will be available for each model:

  • S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 130 (size 24–31.5)
  • S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 120 (size 24–31.5)
  • S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 115 W (size 22–27.5)
  • S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 105 W (size 22–27.5)

In addition to the new S/Pro Supra Dual BOA series, Salomon will continue to offer both the S/Pro Supra BOA series (featuring two buckles on the upper cuff) and the traditional 4-buckle S/Pro Supra series, all available in multiple flex ratings for 25/26.

Weight (and Comparisons)

Our 25/26 S/Pro Supra Dual BOA 120 GW weighs about 1850 grams per boot for a size 26.5. That puts it on the lighter end of the spectrum for fixed-cuff alpine boots, but there are several comparable boots that are similar in terms of weight, including Salomon's own lower-volume S/Pro Alpha 130.

Here are a number of our measured weights for some comparable boots. For our measured weights, we list the weights of each shell + the weights of each liner, then the total weight of the shells + liners.
